Books: a way of life

Books give company,
Reading them, not whiling away money...

Kinds of books many...
Right from toddlers to their nanny.

Some express writers' fun,
Some their views, sarcasm and pun...

From the childish Jungle Book,
To the mature chicken Soup...
From Agatha Cristie's mystery,
To the famous Indian Akbar Birbal history...

Be it Shakespeare's verses,
Or Harry Potter's curses...
Kalam's Ignited Minds,
They find a place in each's mind...

For few...books a main stay,
Showing them a way...
Representing excellent penmanship,
They often crack much louder than a whip!

Reverberating Shouts...

A fire within me,
Raging and ranting-looming to spout,
Quelling my fears; prods me forth...
Baptism with terror has resurrected me.

I won't cower...
I won't bow...
No, I won't be muted,
My voice too shall with the others roar.

I won't forget...
Nor will forgive...
I won't lie down,
And see you revel in unremorseful glee.

I won't cry...
I won't weep...
Neither shed tears,
No vulnerability to pain inflicted, will I display.

I am fortified,
Ready to fight,
The word 'I' just not me...
But millions and millions of 'WE'!!

a prayer for the fighter......

I am jittery, I am nervous, I am tensed and my nerves stretched to the point of bursting...[isn't nervous supposed to mean that? I don't know and I don't care....] I am slurring my words starving myself and most of all praying that you do well......
Its when you win that gives me warm comfort like a blanket in a cold evening. For once I concentrate on things on hand without worry lines creasing my forehead.
You are a winner through and through, its just one more that will matter....
my hopes pinned on you, I cry when you are injured, when you miss the shot....berations like I never did before.
Its for you I wait and wait...even though I just get to watch you from miles apart, from the t.v set that caters to so many, I feel like I am there....monitoring you, watching myself in the big screen at the court......
When you play...... it is sublime magic and as the day grows and more of it unfolds I can't wait to get enough....I crave for more, satisfy myself with reruns when the live diappears.......
and now, when you are gearing to battle it out for one last time......I feel the heat again
I am jittery, I am nervous............its the same thing again.....
This time though......my prayers are as if my life depended on it!!!!!!

my pensiveness

Walking upon a winding path,
Treading on the dry leaves,
My thoughts question me a lot,
My mind and heart totally bereaved!!!

Morns and Nights grievous,
Afts and Eves suddenly obscure,
Deeds and actions atrocious,
Life in an uncalled primordial fear!!!

The sun in an eclipse,
The moon, utterly new...
Will the world get a glimpse?
Oh, will the light pass through?

The rain like acid,
The breeze like gale...
Plants and trees gone....land like arid,
Will goodness once again prevail?

Thus, I trudge 'lone...
Wondering the past and present undone...
Life is a game, some say...
But with some's life, why to play?

my pathos.......

I grew up in the dustbin,
My life destined to be a ragamuffin,
No one to bother about me,
No one to hear my unspoken plea,
I am sad, tired and weary,
My days and nights are dark, lonely and dreary,
My arms and legs long for rest,
My aching body daily put to test....
I want some peace and quiet,
And some broad daylight......
Someone to take care of me,
Someone to fill me with happiness and glee,
I just want to be treated kindly,
And not to turn away from me blindly.......

why my country?

Bomb blasts everywhere ! any day , any place, any time nowadays we can expect a bomb blast !!! The country which has never done any harm to anyone why is everyone hell bent on harming it? What have the people of this country done to beget such a fate. Inspite of all this we bounce back which, I think angers our attackers even more ! The actions by these fanatics not only spoils their name but also the name of their religion, their people and their God[no God will justify such cruel and merciless actions]. These things used to happen in Srilanka in the early and mid-nineties; in the West Bank between Israel and Palestine; but were'nt and are'nt these wars openly acknowledged? India has never gone and attacked anyone openly or by way of a veil? so why do this? the answers to these questions I think, only time will tell.....and till that time comes, I guess we have to face whatever comes and face with bravery and spirit, the spirit that is so resilient within us !!!!
JAYA HE !!!!!!

TRUE PRIDE

It must be a matter of great pride for the people of the US, UK, China to see their sportsmen and women winning medals like buying vegetables... to see their national anthem being played over the loudspeaker...even though india has done itself proud this year , it still has along way to go...
when i heard the national anthem being played for mr.bindra, it was an emotional and a proud moment...but think about it from say, US's point of view.....for them, it must be shock and asthonishment if their national anthem is not played........for they have grown used to hearing it every 4 yrs........but in order to win the medals and to make it look so easy......the amount of hardwork that the sportsmen and women put is enormous............they start training not before 2-3 months before the games but right after the games end......they have national pride to contend with......but this time it can be said the Indian contingency was supposed to be the strongest and it did to certain extent live up to the expectation.....but Indian sports has to improve a lot........India has to learn from the dtermination of the host country 'China'.....it was desperate to be at the top because last year it lost out the top spot to the US by just a medal......the Chinese contingency was flawless, and to be rightly said....deserved the laurels......India has apopulation of around 102mn people and only second to china so indian sports authorities should realise our country's potential and try to get not just 3 medals but much much more than that......and this is a fact that everyone will agree to...'there is no dearth of talent in India !!!'

Greatness...

Great are the people who find their way,
Their willpower strong they never sway...
Bright future, the foundations they lay...
Give more of them,we pray...

Great are the people who are brave,
Punishment for their bravery- they toil and heave...
Suddenly, tired they leave...
Making all of us grieve...

Great are the people who are true,
Their frankness puts them through...
Their quality, not many to approve...
Their character, worth to prove...

People are great,
Some men, some saint...
Born ordinary...
But proved extraordinary...

U r a star,
Which shines brightly, so far...
Ur play like gold,
That's so easy to mould !!!

A phoenix's ability,
A cheetah's agility,
An exquisite reality....
Thy name has no comparability !!!

U r subtle,
U r ineffable,
But ur mettle,
Is jus infalliable !!!

Wimbledon equalled,
Roland Garros eluded..
One day,
Thee will have succeeded !!!

Such is a hope,
Such is a prayer,
Such is a wish,
May u never waver !!!
